On the 24th of June, Brandnation’s Content and Social Team travelled the 375-mile journey to the imposing Drumlanrig Castle on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway for the Scottish instalment of Tough Mudder, sponsored by Brandnation client and outdoor clothing and footwear brand, Merrell.
Doctor Andrew Murray, an ambassador for Merrell and a trained doctor, runner and endurance champion was taking part with his ‘pack’ of friends all ready to take on the Tough Mudder challenge. Andrew’s crew was made up of a variety of people from all walks of life, but all who shared a common passion for adventure and trying something a little out of one’s normal comfort zone.
Accompanying Andrew and his friends to the event, Team Brandnation executed a busy schedule of filming, photography and event management on site, interviewing Andrew on his endurance expertise, his medical opinion on the effects of taking on a Tough Mudder challenge and his personal fears about the task ahead.
Then Andrew led his friends into the event itself, plunging into the icy depths of the Arctic Enema, climbing over the mammoth Pyramid Scheme and attempting the elusive ‘ding’ of the King of the Swingers bell. Making their way through the course as a perfectly tuned unit, they lent a hand to fellow Mudders and never failed to stop and make sure that their whole team was intact.
Throughout proceedings Team Brandnation was filming, snapping and live socialing throughout the weekend to maintain the Tough Mudder buzz, spread the word of Merrell’s involvement and engage as many followers as possible.
With the often unpredictable Scottish weather brightening up come the afternoon, Andrew and his friends were able to enjoy their well-earned ‘finisher pint’ in sunny style. After catching his breath, Andrew described the experience as “not easy, but definitely fun”, adding that he, “hopes it comes back to Drumlanrig Castle next year, and if it does, he for one will be there!”
Andrew happily added completing his first Tough Mudder event to his impressive list of achievements which includes running 4,300 miles from John O’Groats to the Sahara Desert, seven ultra marathons on the seven continents in under a week and first place in both the North Pole and the Antarctic Marathons.
Onwards and upwards to the final Tough Mudder event in London this September in which Team Brandnation will also be participating.
