To celebrate the launch of Saucony’s new AW17 trail collection, Brandnation’s Sport PR Team put five journalists through their paces on the challenging terrains of the Lake District.
After a long coffee-fuelled trek from London’s Euston we piled into our Saucony branded white Land Rover and headed into the mountains for the start of our adventure.
Leaving our phone signal at the station, we arrived at the hotel with journalists from titles including The Telegraph, Healthy For Men and Trail Running and changed into our Saucony gear ready to run.
First up was a quick debrief on the collection which focuses on wearing the correct shoes for the terrain you are taking on, enabling you to perform at your best and Run Anywhere.
Within Saucony’s new collection there is the KOA ST for soft terrain, the KOA TR for road to trail running, the Peregrine 7 for track and varied ground and the Xodus ISO 2 for rocky and uneven surfaces.
Kitted out in the new KOA ST trail shoes we headed out into the mountains on our first 10K run led by Saucony UK's Nick Hardy who punished us with a tough ascent to get our hearts pumping.
The views at the top made it all worthwhile and the team required little encouragement to make the most of the sport social media opps with appropriate hashtags. We were also joined by a professional outdoor photographer who captured stunning shots of the shoes in action.
Mountain views documented on Instagram, we continued our run through deep mud and flowing streams with Nick encouraging us to trust our trainers and pick up speed as the track grew steep.
By the end of our run it was golden hour and time to warm up and refuel by a log fire in a local pub before heading back to our hotel for dinner.
Day two was all about the KOA TR. We set off as the sun was rising for a second 10K road to trail route along quiet tracks and through farms as we watched the mist rising from the fields.
We made it to Wast Water, the deepest lake in England, to catch our breath and take some final photos before heading back to London feeling inspired to get off road and head to the tracks.
Saucony has launched its Run Anywhere collection as part of its Run Your World movement, a brand campaign to bring together their three consumer categories of Performance, Life On The Run and Originals.
Many thanks from the Brandnation Sport PR team to all those who took part.
