Brandnation’s Sports PR agency team partnered up with leading outdoor footwear brand, and long-term client, Merrell, to coordinate an urban hike with London walking group, the Metropolitan Walkers.
Engineered by Brandnation, Merrell created a survey which revealed that hiking is on the up amongst today’s young people. In fact, 54% of young adults surveyed lace up their walking boots for leisure at least once a week to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors.
To bring the survey results to life, Brandnation established a partnership with London’s 800 strong walking group for 20-40s, the Metropolitan Walkers.
A chilly Wednesday evening saw a group comprised of members of the press, health and fitness influencers and the Merrell Collective join the Metropolitan Walkers for one of their mid-week walks. Pounding the pavements, the group followed a guided three mile walk from Tooting Bec station to Wandsworth under the light of the moon.
Kitted out in Merrell’s latest high-tech walking shoe, the Moab FST 2 GTX, the hike through the streets, parks and riverbanks of the capital provided the perfect setting to showcase that hiking is popular with today’s young people.
Move over Netflix and chill, the humble hike is here to stay.
Engaging national and health and fitness media and inviting influencers along to the walk, provided the perfect platform to generate engaging content for Merrell UK’s social channels, owning tags like #YoungHeartsWalkFree.
