Part crowd-funded, US sports technology start-up, Slinger Bag, approached Brandnation early in 2020 to work on the launch of the new company’s first product – the Slinger Bag.

Put simply, the Slinger Bag is a revolutionary, highly portable, battery-driven ball launcher for tennis players of all abilities, offering a 24/7 training partner that ensures you will never have to miss a day of practice again. Our brief, from a standing start, was to get this amazing, new tech product noticed globally and create interest and demand for it.


With the limited launch budgets at its disposal, Brandnation’s Sports PR and Influencer teams created a scalable launch strategy targeting key tennis influencers, as well as tennis-mad celebrities such as Courtney Cox, Tommy Haas, Jamie, and Judy Murray.

This activity was underpinned by a pro-active press office function providing opportunities for key influential media to try the new kit and to write about it.

In addition, Brandnation was able to work with official Slinger ambassadors including legendary tennis coach Nick Bollettieri and all-time tennis doubles greats the Bryan Brothers. Media access was leveraged to deliver high-quality editorial and meaningful social interactions.


Slinger Bag is now widely recognised as the world’s most portable tennis ball launcher, and has received continuous critical acclaim as well as surpassing all sales and growth targets where it is sold around the world. To date, Slinger Bag has secured global distribution deals totalling over $200M in consumer value over five years.

Consumer coverage? Slinger Bag has aced it, game, set and match. Think Forbes, the BBC, FT, The Guardian, Telegraph, Wired and – enough, in fact, for this start-up brand to achieve the status of ‘hottest thing in tennis’ within a few months of launch.

Blanket, positive global sports and tennis trade and corporate media coverage also helped fuel a global distribution frenzy amongst the tennis market’s most credible distribution organisations, despite the pandemic, and within a year of launch, distribution has been secured in over 40 territories across six continents.

What’s more, Slinger Bag has been able to secure co-operative marketing deals and arrangements with major global tennis market players such as Dunlop and Wilson.
