Design and build a Karrimor running and training app for iPhone and Android devices and a dedicated website to support the app's users with additional performance-related stats and facts. The Karrimor brand is best known in the outdoors market but the brand wanted to make a major marketing push into the growing running market and the Karrimor app was a central factor in a major marketing focus for the brand as it entered the running market with an impressive range of running shoes and kit.
In launch week alone, 50,000 people downloaded the app, and it entered the top 10 sports app downloads on the appstore. Its ease of use and design earned it rave media reviews and the accompanying website allowed users to communicate and compare with each other whilst providing Karrimor with 'Big Data'.
The app combined a number of complex features to enable effective route and activity tracking as well as providing entertainment en route. Other features included calories burned; distance travelled; a music player; performance prompts; route and run comparisons; geocaching and an invite facility to get friends to join users on activities via Facebook.
