Travelex | Space Money Campaign


Following an intensive pitch process, Brandnation’s Creative team was appointed by Travelex – the World’s largest retail foreign exchange specialist, to be creative lead agency for the company’s UK retail arm.

For a period lasting over five years the team was responsible for all UK in-store design and graphics covering POS, leaflets, displays and advertising. Additionally, Brandnation was tasked to provide store designs and liveries for prestigious projects such as Heathrow’s prestigious T5; oversee the development of new sub brands; manage cooperative promotions with other global brands and also work on special projects such as the design of ‘Space Money’ to celebrate the inevitability of consumer space flights.

Space Money Campaign

To coincide with the launch of the first commercial spaceflights, Brandnation designed, developed and produced ‘Space Money’, a new currency specifically created for effective deployment in space. The money (advanced plastic tokens, that were actually produced in small numbers via a prototyping manufacturer) was extensively featured on TV and in the media opening up the discussion about what money might actually be required in space and what properties it would need to have.
