Pinterest launches its hotly anticipated summer trend report for 2025

Pinterest’s summer trend report is out, and it’s full of insight into what’s trending this summer:

  • Digital detoxing is on the rise, with more people taking breaks from screens and spending time in nature with retreats, forest walks, and cottage-style living.
  • Fresh food & drink content including garden-to-table meals, home-grown veg and healthy summer detox drinks is trending.
  • Crafty, hands-on hobbies like cute summer crafts, book clubs and outdoor garden parties are growing in popularity.
  • Earthy ‘dill green’ is the colour of the season, along with crochet outfits and boho Y2K styles.
  • Beauty trends lean into astrology, with star sign makeup, cool-toned eyeshadows and summery nail art standing out.

Brands can tap into these moods by aligning content and influencer partnerships with the ‘slow summer’ aesthetic.

Instagram launches ‘Restyle’, AI-powered video styling in Edits

Instagram has introduced Restyle, a new AI tool built into its Edits app (with Instagram integration coming soon) that lets creators easily transform the look of their videos using a selection of preset styles.

While still in early stages, with plans to support open-ended prompts later, Restyle offers fresh creative possibilities for producing eye-catching content with minimal effort.

On the platform, Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said: “Announcing Restyle, an AI tool built into Edits, and soon Instagram, that allows you to style your videos in all sorts of ways. It’s early days, and we’re starting with a finite set of presets before we support open prompting, but it’s exciting and I can’t wait to see how creatives use the tool.”

Facebook Reels becomes the default for all video uploads

Facebook has confirmed that all videos uploaded to the platform will now appear in the Reels feed, regardless of length, format or orientation.

The move signals Meta’s push for Reels to be the central video format on Facebook, streamlining content discovery and aligning with its broader video-first strategy.

For brands and marketers, it’s now easier than ever to repurpose your existing video content for Reels without worrying about format restrictions.

TikTok releases AI-powered tools for ad creation

TikTok has released a suite of new AI-powered tools designed to help marketers generate high-performing creative faster:

  • Text-to-video: Feed the AI a prompt, and it’ll generate a video from scratch.
  • Image-to-video: Upload a product photo and description for a custom clip.
  • Product showcase: Upload an image and choose a model to create ads showing your product being worn or used.

While still in early stages, these tools aim to lower production costs and speed up campaign launches, especially for brands with limited content creation resources.

Meta tests new AI creative tools for advertisers

Similarly, Meta is currently trialling a range of AI-driven ad tools to make campaign creation more efficient:

  • Convert multiple images to video clips: These will be animated and have text overlays
  • Video highlights: To easily find the most relevant part of a video and skip the rest
  • Branding tools: Include your logo, brand colours in AI-generated assets
  • Persona-based text generation: To ingrain the brand even further

With these updates, Meta continues to build towards its goal of fully automating the ad creation process. Expect more brand-friendly templates and guided creative recommendations rolling out in the coming months.

CapCut’s controversial updates to its Terms of Service spark user backlash

CapCut quietly updated its Terms of Service, stating that it can use your videos, face and voice globally and indefinitely, even if you’re just editing locally and not uploading.

While similar clauses exist in other platforms, CapCut’s vague wording has raised concerns. The company has yet to respond publicly.

Our advice is not to panic, but if you’re looking for alternatives, try:

  • Instagram Edits
  • InShot
  • VEED
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Mojo

YouTube Shorts updates product tagging

YouTube is updating its product tagging feature for Shorts, allowing creators to add product stickers directly onto their videos.

These stickers, generated from the first tagged product, can be placed anywhere on the screen and adjusted for size and placement.

Snapchat acquires student scheduling app Saturn

Snapchat is deepening its connection with teenage users by acquiring Saturn, a calendar-based social app popular in over 17,000 U.S. high schools and expanding into colleges. Saturn lets students share schedules, plan meet-ups, and chat within the app, features that align perfectly with Snapchat’s social focus.

While Saturn will continue operating independently for now, Snap plans to eventually integrate Saturn’s calendar and scheduling features directly into Snapchat, adding a new layer to its Snap Map and messaging tools. This move could make Snapchat the go-to platform for coordinating social life among teens, though it also raises privacy considerations around sharing whereabouts and plans in real time.

For brands targeting Gen Z, this integration signals fresh opportunities to engage teens through more contextually relevant and time-sensitive content and activations.

TikTok ban in the US delayed again

President Trump has delayed the TikTok ban for a third time.

Instead of a full sell-off, TikTok is reportedly exploring a plan to lease its algorithm to a US entity, potentially keeping operations running while addressing national security concerns.

Meta launches ‘Opportunity Score’ for ads

Meta’s new Opportunity Score tool gives each campaign a rating out of 100, showing how well it aligns with its AI-based performance benchmarks.

Advertisers will also receive actionable suggestions to boost performance, which is great for marketers looking to improve campaign outcomes efficiently.
