Media Training

Media Training

Media training for the questions you don't want to be asked

Nobody is born good at interviews. The people who look natural have usually practised.

Brandnation media training prepares leaders and spokespeople for high-pressure interviews, difficult questions and the moments when sticking to a script is not enough.

Our sessions are practical, challenging and built around your business. No generic scenarios. No hiding behind a slide deck.

Today's media interview isn't just a media interview

A spokesperson might face a broadcast journalist, podcast host, livestream audience, conference panel or an unexpected question captured on a phone.

Each format demands something different.

A two-hour podcast needs a different approach from a ninety-second news package. A polished corporate line can sound evasive in a long-form interview. And a weak answer can be clipped, captioned and shared before the interview has finished.

Media training needs to reflect that reality.

Real questions. Real pressure.

Our media training is led by a former journalist with experience on both sides of the interview.

That means knowing when a journalist is fishing, when they already have the story and which answers are likely to trigger the next difficult question.

We prepare participants around the issues their organisation could genuinely face. That might be AI policy, regulation, executive pay, layoffs, sustainability, supply chains, customer data, pricing or workplace culture.

Then we put those messages under pressure.

What media training includes

Before the session, we work through your current communications priorities, reputational risks and likely media scenarios.

Training can include:

  • Message development
  • Broadcast and print interview practice
  • Difficult and hostile question handling
  • Crisis interview simulations
  • Live recording and playback
  • One-to-one coaching
  • Bridging and message control
  • Spokesperson performance reviews
  • Personal action plans

Participants see what works, what does not and what they need to change.

Sound prepared, not rehearsed

Audiences can spot a prepared line. Journalists can too. Effective media training is not about teaching people to dodge questions or repeat corporate messages. It is about helping them answer clearly, stay composed and bring the conversation back to what matters without

sounding scripted.

After training, spokespeople should be able to handle unexpected questions, communicate key proof points consistently and still sound like themselves.

That matters in a planned interview. It matters even more when something has gone wrong.
